ArtMingle
Social Art Marketplace to Connect, Trade and Collaborate
ArtMingle is an online social art marketplace where clients and artists connect, trade, and collaborate. Whether you’re seeking custom commissions or unique artwork, ArtMingle makes it easy to discover artists, negotiate fairly, and track your projects with complete transparency. It’s more than just a transaction; it’s a space to engage with creative stories, support artistic craftsmanship, and build lasting connections within local art communities.
Problem Statement
Art-loving clients like Andrew struggle to find personalized, handcrafted art that fits their style, budget, and values. Existing platforms lack transparent pricing, meaningful artist interactions, and customization tools that enable a deeper connection to the creative process. Simultaneously, emerging artists like Bobby face challenges in promoting their work, receiving fair compensation, and building direct relationships with clients due to limited exposure, lack of community support, and unclear marketplace systems. Both users are underserved by current solutions that fail to foster collaboration, trust, and artistic growth.
Key UXR Insights
• The lack of consistent and visible pricing standards in art marketplaces undermines buyer confidence, leading to mistrust among clients and artists. Introducing transparent and standardized pricing mechanisms can improve trust and accelerate purchasing decisions.
• Clients and artists lack the tools to collaboratively track commissioned works’ progress, leading to misunderstandings and stalled negotiations. A shared platform for documenting the artistic process and managing input from clients and artists can improve transparency and streamline collaboration.
• Delayed or fragmented communication between clients and artists leads to missed opportunities and slow transactions. Real-time messaging systems can reduce friction in the purchase process and support stronger art community engagement.

The Solution
01-1. User Flow 1: Andrew (The Client)
Andrew wants to purchase handcrafted, customized pottery from local artists for his kitchen. (Plot twist: Andrew can tap the “Ask the artist” button when deciding whether to contact the artist directly.)

02-1. User Flow 2: Bobby (The Artist)
Bobby wants to check the new client’s order from the message notification, create a new “Art Schedule,” and send a message to the client about updating customized artwork. (Plot twist: deciding whether to go directly to the “Account” screen by the header’s notification.)
02-2. Storyboard 2: Bobby (The Artist)

06. Usability Testing and Design Iterations
I conducted engaging usability testing with ten participants, organized into two user groups of five: clients and artists. By thoroughly analyzing the gathered data, I extracted valuable insights that directly informed the design of impactful, iterative prototypes.
Additionally, I created a usability testing plan that included criteria for participant selection, test scripts for both clients and artists, success criteria for tasks, and interview questions.
